Elementary and Secondary Education

Providing quality education to its communities with its high-tech facilities and the latest technologies, the schools of Las Vegas are part of the Clark County School District. The Clark County School District oversees the 6th largest school district in the United States. More information can be found at their web site, www.ccsd.net. In addition, private schools are expanding to meet the needs of our growing population. Currently 16 private schools in the Las Vegas area educate children from kindergarten through high school, with several new private schools planned for the next 2 years.

In Las Vegas, more than 16,000 people are employed by the Clark County School District making it the second largest employer in southern Nevada. Expecting its student population to grow to about 15,000 students annually, The Clark County School District plans to generate more than $350 million a year, funds geared to more new schools and more teaching staff.

Higher Education

Higher education is conveniently close with choices like the Clark County Community College, the Community College of Southern Nevada, and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. However, the Valley also offers more than 60 vocational and business training schools for specialized educational needs.

Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN)

Las Vegas is home for the main campus of the Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN). CCSN is one of the biggest and one of the best community colleges in the country. Three campus locations serve over 26,000 students in 17 different fields. Among the top disciplines at CCSN are dental hygiene (#2 in the country), culinary arts (#3 in the country), computing and information technologies, resorts and gaming, nursing and other health professions, automotive technology, air conditioning and criminal justice.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV)

Within a short drive, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is growing almost as fast as the city in which it is located. The student body is now over 20,000 plus over 4,000 graduate students. UNLV has just added a $40 million library among its other expansions. UNLV is one of only 165 universities nationally offering a Law School. UNLV offers more than 148 undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in its eight colleges. UNLV is nationally recognized for its hotel management, criminal justice and social work programs. Other programs of significance are the university's business, real estate, computer science, arts, recreation, architecture, and construction management disciplines
